ELWOOD STAFFING / E.TALENT
While working at Elwood Staffing, I started as a Recruiter and transitioned into a Business Development Manager (BDM) role within my first year at the Roanoke branch. The experience gave me the opportunity to work across recruiting, business development, operations, and brand strategy.
As a Recruiter, I worked closely with branch leadership and the Regional Vice President to help improve local strategies and the candidate experience. This included developing new social media strategies, interview processes, office layouts, onboarding procedures, and recruiting workflows.
I also helped expand the branch's recruiting capabilities by securing access to Indeed as a primary job board for the Roanoke, Christiansburg, and Lynchburg offices. I was responsible for managing the platform and coordinating job postings across all three locations alongside the company's internal recruiting system.
One of the larger projects I developed was a conceptual rebranding strategy for Elwood Staffing. I created an executive-style proposal outlining the opportunity for a more community-focused identity called “E-Talent.” The concept positioned Elwood around its family-owned roots, workforce development, talent training, and long-term relationships within the communities it served.
The proposed campaign centered around a new mission: “Building the workforce, one smile at a time.”
The strategy included ideas for community initiatives, training programs, recruiting outreach, and a broader brand direction designed to make Elwood feel more personal, recognizable, and connected to the communities it served.
This experience was valuable because it allowed me to move beyond traditional recruiting and become involved in strategy, operations, business development, marketing, and organizational growth.
